FACULTY
Fleda Brown and Sydney Lea have collaborated on Growing Old in Poetry: Two Poets, Two Lives, a combination memoir from two poets close to the same age, both of whom have been poets laureate of their states, talking about their lives, poetry, and the intersections of the two. This book will be released exclusively as an e-book by Autumn House Press in April. Fleda will post the link to download it as soon as it’s available.
Special Note to everyone from Fleda:
“I am so, so grateful for the emails, calls, and many gifts from all of you–faculty and students. It has been, frankly, astounding to me. But why should I be astounded? Stan and Judith have created a program that is so warm and supportive that it’s natural, I suppose to see this kind of reaction to the news of my illness. Still, I am so deeply touched by the many notes, cards, personally meaningful as well as silly gifts. I knew we were a great community. I didn’t know how much it meant to me. Thank you all. I’ll paddle-board to health on the nice, smooth lake waters of your caring. Oh Lord, I wax maudlin. All true, nonetheless.”
David Huddle has won the 2013 PEN New England Award for Best Work of Poetry, presented at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library on March 24.
